Relay for Life

Yesterday I participated in a special event benefiting the American Cancer Society. I walked in the Relay for Life Danville. This was my first experience and I had such a great time! The relay is a 24 hour event where at least one team member is walking at all times! We had some amazing Ladies who set up their tents and spent the night taking turns sleeping and walking throughout the night! Way to go Ladies! I walked throughout the day and evening but headed home around 1 am.
I had so much fun with the Garcia Girls! We walked and talked all day!! They are Karl's "cousins" and their Dad is Karl's Godfather. They made the day so enjoyable! Thanks Ladies!!
It was cold and windy when I arrived at 8am but once the sun came out it was a beautiful day with a gorgeous view of Mt Diablo!

Each team had a booth and sold something, another way to raise more money for the cause. Our team's name was The Amazing Race so we chose to sell passports that every time you would do a lap you received a stamp so you could keep track of how many laps were walked throughout the day!

Karl brought the girls for a while so they could walk some laps with me and enjoy the festivities!

Payton got her nails done at one tent and also had a bracelet made with colors of her choice!

Then she got a Butterfly "tattoo"
Paige loved Sarah, they were dancing together ;)

Some Amazing Women! Aunt Lori with her daughters and sisters!

I will admit it, we broke the rules... Aime brought us some wine to enjoy during our evening stroll!

Shh! Don't tell what is in the cup ;)

At 9 pm they do a Luminaries ceremony where the light up bags, each one decorated by participants In Memory of Loved ones they have lost as well as honoring those who are fighting or survivors. It was followed by a touching slide show and silent lap. A VERY touching evening!
We just got back Thursday night from a week long road trip to Arizona and San Diego. We had a lot of fun and I will post pictures this week!
